  • Bristol FAVS Update

    Bristol FAVS got off to a great start this year with a visit to a local progressive dairy farm milking on a rotary, it gave members a chance to see a well-managed, large scale enterprise producing milk for their own branded dairy products. Our first speaker of the year was Andrew Sheppy talking to our members about conservation genetics and safeguarding breeding populations for the future, his enthusiasm for rare breed poultry and Dexter cattle was infectious!

  • RVC FAVS Update

    At the start of January one of our cows Flo calved giving us a new bull calf Hamish. 

    The annual trip to the Hertfordshire show was a great success this year with our homebred bull Monty winning male champion and reserve breed champion. We also did well in the other classes coming 2nd in the native breed pairs as well as collecting a good haul of rosettes for third and fourth.

  • Liverpool FAVS update

    February is a busy month for Liverpool FAVS with two talks and congress. The first talk is on “The effects of BVD on herd fertility and production" and is kindly sponsored by MSD and the second talk is regarding transition cow management.  All years are welcome at the talks but it should be especially helpful for fourth year students as some extra revision before their forthcoming exams. 23 Liverpool students are looking forward to attending congress this year after hearing such good reviews...
